Project 38 was first conceived as a collective portrait of the participants of the program OTZMA 2009/2010. OTZMA is a volunteer program geared toward young, post-collegiate, North American Jews interested in participating in a philanthropic ten month program living and volunteering in Israel. It became an exploration of an exploration of what their Jewish identity meant to these young adults.
